91 - Surface Tension of water drops and the shape of water jets

The goal of this experiment is to measure the surface tension of water and other liquids by using the pendant drop method. Additionally, the characteristic shape of a water jet from a tap is measured and compared to a simple analytic expression describing the shape.

Requirements:

• Smartphone
• Computer
• Pipette (if possible, otherwise a thin straw)
• 3-4 different, common liquids
• A water tap
